GALERA
Outdoor swimming pool, ideal for diving, depth ranges from 0.7m down to 2.2m, shallow area for small children. Bar available & changing rooms. Only open July and August
Cost for 2004: €2 per person per day - Mon - Fri, €2.50 (weekends). Family ticket for 2 adults and 1 child, €32 for July and Aug.
Directions: This pool is only a 2 min walk from La Zalona Restaurant. Standing at the restaurant doors take the steps immediately to your right on the other side of the road. You will cross a small bridge and following the path round for approx 100 meters (you are now walking around the pool boundaries). The pool entrance is on your right.

| Directions: Approx 8 km from La Zalona, head out of the village and turn left onto the A330 towards Huescar. You will pass a petrol station on your right and the El Parador restaurant on your left. 100 meters later turn left for Castillejar. (it will be clearly signposted). Follow the road until you get to the next junction, turn left again. |  |
You will drive through a small hamlet called Cortijo del Cura and then Castillejar. Stay on the main road (don´t turn into the vilage centre). About a km later you right into a village called Los Olivos. The pool will be sign posted as Lagos Artificial. Follow the road round (about 1 km) and you will see a sign for Lagos Artificial and the turning is on your left.

Directions: Approximately 20km from La Zalona. Head out of the village and turn right onto the A330 towards Orce and Cullar. Once at Cullar take the lefthand turning heading towards Murcia. Go through the town and the pool will be on your left signposted as Piscina Municipal. It is opposite the Ford Garage.
ORCE

Directions: Approx 7 km from La Zalona. Head out of the village and turn right onto the A330 towards Orce and Cullar. After 2k, turn left for Orce. Follow the road for approx 3 - 4 km, the pool entrance is on your left, signed as Aparcamiento. There is a gravel layby in front of the turning. Follow the road down and you will see the pool straight in front behind a hedge.
HUÉSCAR

Directions: Come out of Galera and go left on to the A330 towards Huescar. Continue on this road, ignoring the turning for Huescar on your left. Take the next turning on your right, sign posted for Huescar. At the T junction turn left, the swimming pool will be on your left about 1/2km up the road.
FREILA
Lake Negratin. In the summer, you can sail, hire canoes, pedaloes or simply swim in the beautiful lake.

Directions: Come out of Galera and turn right, heading towards Orce and Cullar. At Cullar turn right heading towards Baza and Granada and the A92N. Once on the A-92N stay on this road, ignoring signs for Baza. Take the turning immediately after Baza signposted for Zujar and Freila. You will come up to a roundabout and you want to follow the sign for Zujar. Once at Zujar follow the signs for Freila. Negratin Lake will be on your right signposted for Lago recreativo. You do not need to go into the village of Freila itself. The road will take you down to the lake itself.

After a long day of property hunting, visitors are often pleasantly surprised to find that there are a number of local therapeutic hot water mineral springs and spas. Apart from the local municipal pools, mentioned above, you can also pamper yourself with the local water which supposedly helps relieve the following symptoms - Rheumatism, arthritis, neuritis, asthma and allergies, chronic bronchitis, sinusitis, dermatological afflictions and everyday stress to name but a few.

Continue on the A92N past Baza and take first turning after Baza, signposted for Zujar. As you approach Zujar turn right, follow the road straight through Zujar, until you reach the lake. Alternative route: Drive to Benamurel follow the Baza road out of Benamaurel, after 10km, turn right (this is not signposted). If you get to Baza you have gone to far. You will see the canal Jabalcón on your left, Negratin lake is to your right follow road (narrow country lane) for another 10km, the baths are to your right.

Directions: Head out of the village and turn right onto the A330 towards Orce and Cullar. Once at Cullar take the right hand turning towards Baza. This will take to you to the A92N to Baza. On the A92N take the 1st turning signposted for Baza and Baza Hospital. Cuevas Al-Jatib is the 2nd turning on the left after the flyover. Cuevas Al-Jatib is approximately 25km from Galera
