We aim to produce ecological cave houses that are:
- Affordable and attractively priced. With prices that are close to that of normally built cave houses and below the prices of conventional houses of the same size and in the same area.
- Economical to run. By incorporating high levels of thermal insulation, recirculating heat, utilising renenwable energy the eco cave houses will have minimal running costs.
- Comfortable and practical to live in. In other words, it should be possible to run most modern appliances and have the conveniences of modern life. With this in mind it is recognised that almost everyone is going to have to make lifestyle changes if they are to become more ecological and minimise their contribution to global warming.
- Utilise local skills and materials. Wherever possible local skills and traditional building methods and materials will be used.
- Minimise carbon emmissions. Both during construction and through the entire life of cave house it is essential that attention is paid to minimising carbon emmissions resulting from the use of non renewable fossile fuels.
- Minimise water usage. Primarily by treating waste water coming from the property so that it can be used for irrigation.
